24 playable characters will kick things off, with more available in the future via downloads. Developer Vicarious Visions is taking full advantage of its licensing agreement with Marvel, presenting the largest army of playable superheroes around.
One campaign will focus on the characters that side with Cap, the other with Iron Man's pro-registration Man contingent.
Like in the original Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, four players will be able to play through the Ultimate Alliance 2 campaigns cooperatively. Political allegory aside, this resulted in a storyline that conveniently allowed for superheroes to fight one another. In the comics, those who were against registration (the pro civil liberties group) assembled under the banner of Captain America, while those who were willing to make their identities public (many of whom already had highly public identities) began working for Iron Man. Ultimate Alliance 2 is inspired by the Civil War storyline, the game-changing event that split the heroes of the world into two factions: those for and those against a Superhuman Registration Act. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 is set to bring more of the Marvel Universe to your gaming system than any game before it.
